Dear Thom,

I'm just 'recovering' from a holiday spend in Ireland, a lovely inspiring guitarweek with Seamie O'Dowd, who sang your beautiful song Cedars of Lebanon, and a week in New York. 2 of your countries.

Now back in Holland I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your music. You must be one of the most underestimated musicians around!!

Thanks,

best wishes,

Jack van Asdonck

Hi Thom,

Thought it was about time I searched the web for you again, love the page and the songs I hadn't heard before. I hope I'm still your biggest fan (though I'm trying to lose a few pounds)

Working on a new project and hope to be in touch with you about it soon,

Hi, saw you in Sligo 197? with Pumpkinhead. More recently (90's) found 'Gorgeous and Bright' in Kieron and Dierdre's record shop here. 'The Navigator' as a tribute to James Cook is fantastic and ties it all together.
Cheers

I saw you play a number of times quite a few years ago now. A local group that play in a small bar where I live in Greystones (Dan's) have played a couple of your songs at my request and it is great to hear them again. I was wondering if you could tell me where you play around teh Dublin/Wicklow area as I would love to hear you sing live again.

Merhaba Thom, kifaik. I just wanted to say thanks for such great music and fondest times, back in those L.A. days. On this year I had hopes of making a holiday to Ireland and wishfully getting to see a gig of yours, but alas, perhaps we will have to defer.
My wife spent her childhood and schooling and civil war in Beirut and I had hopes of introducing you, . . . maybe next year.
Do you make it to France or Germany?
Sincerely,
Carlos Olivares

Thom,
It was great listening to you and the rest of the group again at the Radisson in Black Rock last Thursday. I love the CD and have been listening to it quite a bit on the plane back to the states as well as over the weekend. I was also trying to find somewhere where I could find Carolina Rua. I saw it on Mary Black's playlist but it looks like it was only produced in vinyl. If you know where I could get a copy it would be great. I look forward to my next visit to Dublin and listening to you again over a couple of pints.

I heard Thoms 'Georgeous and Bright' on a world music radio program in Australia about a year ago but missed the artist's name. Appeals to the radio station and 'googling' the lyrics came to nothing till this year. (Good to see lyrics on the website, thanks.)

I'm wondering whether the recorded live version (played on air in Australia) is available? (The rythym and Thom's vibrato resonated perfectly on that non-reggae version.) Any suggestions?

Hi Thom
I was a regular in the Train to Sligo days at the Loch Ness Monster.

I'm learning to play a bit of guitar and will be trying to get "Still Believing" and "The Navigator" down pretty soon.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the inspiration.

After spending the summer of 93 in Ballisodare, Dreamer in Russia has been on and off a fixture on my playllists. We saw you in Sligo town, and Seamie O'Dowd a few times at Feehily's...and now my son and I are coming back to Sligo....Fondly remember Seamie doing Bandon Car, and I occasionally attempt Carolina Ruadh in our living room.

On Thursday we'll fly from North Carolina...

Hmm, the third of the Maugheraboy crew to sign in here. How ya doin Thom? Rather rustic, woody-lookin website. A WANTED poster wouldn't look out of place (virtually) nailed to this background. Do you remember that Jimmy Crowley sont 'The Bandon Car'? Where he sings 'if you're a manorawoman who likes the porter'. I remember sittin up one night in our house listening to that with yourself and Séamie and the rest of the gang. Some time later it came back to me when I read your paper on Quantum Prosody. Oh how I laughed! By the way, this website doesn't come up when one googles your name. What does come up is a link to your othe site on http://www.harp-thistle.com/thom/ so you might want to stick a re-direct link or something. Just seen a photo of us kids with our Dad outside your house. Apparently the photo was taken by Bill Jackson. Séamie got it from Rick, I think. Brings back memories. Good luck to you now! Ongi izan - as we say here in Euskal Herria.

Hello There, My first time to visit the site. Had a listen to the song you composed for the Eurovision Con Songtest, "No Arrow". A brilliant song. I agree with what Seamie has said about the whole thing. Dervish deserve better. Your song I'd bet wasn't even listened too. Anyway, hope you and yours are well?

Seamie

May 13, 2007

How's it going? I sent a greeting to the Dervishes'guestbook to show a bit of solidarity. Was thinking about yourself as well.
All due respect to the powers that be,(and I suppose that analysis could only be fair after all concerned dust themselves off after last night),but I can't help thinking that a few fundamentals should seriously be looked at.
For the boy's sake,I'd have loved to see a win,but in another way,the people that criminally ignored "No Arrow"have to re-evaluate,which might turn things to the good.I'm no expert on song contests, and actually lost a tenner in a bet that Ireland would win,but the last word on all this could turn out to be that you have the situe figured to a T.
I would suggest to you not to enter a song next year until some of the right people give you a fair hearing. You've been magnanimous enough to allow yourelf to be judged so judgement is now your right. If anyone approaches you next year, argue your case, but I would suggest that unless you feel that you're getting a fair hearing, don't stand in front of a jury allowing first rate songs to be given second and third rate judgement.
Of course, this could all be the ravings of a guy who lost a tenner in a bet,but one way or another,if you found yourself slightly enheartened by the situation, you're probably entitled to.
Hope all else is well.See you soon hopefully.Regards to Lyuba (spelling right I hope)
